Top Paying Dividend Stocks

The goal of this website is to help you become a better dividend stock investor. Dividend stock investing is a good way to balance the need for current income with some capital appreciation. Furthermore, dividend paying stocks can offer some protection against inflation unlike bonds.

However, at its core, selecting a good dividend paying stock is no different from selecting a stock in general. The same type of fundamental analysis and research is applied. Considerations like price to earnings ratios and discounted cash flow apply to both. The one aspect of clarity for a dividend paying stock is that it is readily valued using the expected stream of future dividends.

One possible strategy for selecting dividend paying stocks is to seek quality companies and consistent dividend growth and regular payments. As the market fluctuates and these stocks move up and down in price it is possible to buy on the dip and effectively capture a higher dividend yield.

Many foreign companies also offer dividends; however, they also have additional complications ranging from foreign tax withholding to inconsistent and irregular dividend payments. While many U.S. companies pay a consistent dividend, perhaps with small growth from the previous dividend, on a regular basis, often quarterly, some Latin American companies payout a portion of net income or use other methods to determine the dividend resulting in highly variable payments over time. Good luck with your dividend stock investing!
